Privacy
Last updated October 2026
Hopabout is free to browse without an account. This page explains what we collect and why, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
If you create an account
- Your email address and password (stored securely by our database provider, Supabase; we never see your password).
- Who you plan for (parent, service, school), if you tell us, so we can show the most useful prices first.
- The places you save, mark as been, rate, and any private notes. Only you can see these.
- Locations you save as “My places” (a label, an address and its map point), so searches can start from them. Only you can see these.
When you use the site
- Usage events (pages viewed, searches, filters, and clicks such as “Book”) with a random browser identifier, device type, browser, and an approximate location (city level) looked up from your IP address. We use these to understand what is useful and improve Hopabout.
- Until you choose a suburb or address, we use that approximate location from your IP address to show places near you. We don’t remember it as your location.
- If you choose “Near me”, your browser shares your location to sort results; we do not store it.
- Suggestions and reports you send, with your account if you are signed in.
We don’t sell personal information or use advertising trackers. Data is stored in Australia (Sydney).
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your account and data at any time by emailing hello@hopabout.com.au. Clearing your browser storage resets the browser identifier.
Children
Hopabout is for adults planning activities for children. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
